what we believe
-
Your body, your baby, your birth. Informed consent is your right. We exist to make sure you have the information and support to make decisions that are truly yours, so that you can be an active participant in your birth story.
-
We don't teach a single birth method: no Lamaze, no Bradley, no hypnobirthing script you're expected to follow. Birth isn't a technique to master. It's yours to navigate, and what helps you get through it will look different than what helps the next person. The same goes for feeding your baby. We recognize the real, evidence-based benefits of breastfeeding, and we also know it isn't the right or possible path for every parent, every body, every circumstance. Breast, bottle, combo, pumped, donor milk, formula: fed is the goal, and the way you get there is yours to decide. Parenthood has never fit neatly in a box, and we're not interested in pretending otherwise. We believe in the grey, not the black and white.
-
The more you understand about your body, your options, and the process ahead, the more confident and capable you feel walking into it. Education based in evidence is the foundation everything else is built on.
-
Pregnancy and birth aren't something that happens to you while you sit still. Staying in your body by moving, breathing, and feeling builds the trust and awareness that carries you through labor and beyond.
-
Support can't live only in a pamphlet or an app. It has to show up in a room, at a coffee meetup, in a text back-and-forth with someone who's been there. We build community because that's what actually holds people up.
Rachel Luttrell, Founder
Meet the Team
Rachel's background is varied - she's a former Army officer, military spouse, musician, yogi, and mom of one (soon to be two!). She decided to train for her doula certification during her own pregnancy, after being amazed (and sometimes stressed) at the changes her body was making to support a new life. Today she holds certifications as a DONA-certified doula (CD(DONA)), a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), and a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) specialization.
As half of a previously dual-military couple, Rachel now serves as Director of Communications for the Military Birth Resource Network and Postpartum Coalition, where she brings a firsthand understanding of the unique challenges facing active-duty families. After spending five years in Germany, she and her husband relocated to Okinawa, Japan, where she has spent the last two years helping women and their partners navigate this season of life with support, grace, and a healthy dose of realism and evidence-based information.
